Juniper pt 2

I will just go pretend that uploading these was not some sort of chronic disaster on every site everywhere always. Bleh. Sorry about resolution. I'll fix it somehow. When I'm more in the mood to hash up these pages. Even photoshop wasn't helping. I feel digital mediums are starting to fail on me and I should stop.

First pages from Juniper, having some loading issues with the later pages. Will try and resolve as soon as possible...

Juniper Preview

Juniper is a ten page comic that was done for the advanced comic seminar class I'm taking from Mr. Zak Sally. It's about a convenience store, that's pretty much it. Everything is really open and sort of soft in color. I guess I might do some more of it eventually. I'm happy with these colors. I've also been up doing work too much in the past few weeks. Studio finals are all done (except printing this) and I just have to finish a write up for Wednesday. -_- Hyuuu so tired.

Pas de Deux

Pas de Deux, November 2010

This isn't actually what the final edition looked like, this was just my favorite proof. Final for the Print, Paper, Book class that I'm taking, These colors are really off, for some reason, even scanning it was a little wonky. The bright yellow is a little off. Alternatively it's the fact that I've gotten very little sleep in the past few days and am in a room with very iffy flourescent lights.

From the Juniper comic. These are the final panels, but not the final pages...vague! There's going to be stuff in the background on the page so it's not just happy floating panels. Well it sort of is. Anyways this is nine pages, probably will be hacked down and made into books, because that's all I do. *sigh*

Busy with finals right now. Working on my convenience store comic. Have quite a bit done. Would like to color it at some point...ergh, not sure when that's going to happen, maybe for MiniExpo, for sure I'll have it done for MIX. Well. Hopefully. Managing so many blogs, ergh. I bought this tiny Christmas tree at Target, decorated it in teal and silver. Woo~

I feel like a fake animator.

Srsly. Anyways I'll be posting Jubilee here, but I need to do some resizing so the images aren't the size of xBox. Do people still use that phrase? The xBox has gotten smaller over the years. Babble babble. Also will be posting Juniper. (Possibly "Juniper Again" as well.) It's a derpy convenience store comic, which I'm in the midst of inking right now. Eventually will be a book, well hopefully. Jubilee is already a book, maybe I should stop with "j" names?

Still here

No really I swear!

There's a 14 page mini in the works. Apologies mates. >_o

"Angel of Death" concept. I wanted to go with something a little more "cute" to go with my "Death" concept. The AoD and Death form a set. Ain't that cute?

Like I was saying. The "Death" concept is pretty simple. But yeah. Hurr.

This is just a doodle of the "Death" concept that I did in class today, the long scarf like thing is actually what makes up the base of the cowl. He's got both sickles here, usually the AoD has the one with the key.

Wow, two posts in the same 24-hours, you guys are lucky. I think.

Schoolgirls and Mobilsuits

So somehow I landed the job of doing some of the decorations for Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits this year. We decided on a silk arrangement for our food table. Anyways. Yeah.

I forgot how much I like doing stuff with flowers. Those Chinese Lanterns are a little questionable. I've got until Friday to decide if I want them there. :\

I haven't posted anything since the 19th of August.
Ugh. Have some sketches at least.

Blehhhh. I don't even?

Concept for Max's (Four Steampunk Horsemen of the Apocalypse) Death costume. *Not shown, copious amounts of notes, sketches and other crap. This is the "nice" looking version. :/ I feel like I'm cheating people out of knowledge if I don't mention these things...

Originally Tom and I were going to do a courier service for a convention. In theory this would be fun, but also in theory...and in reality it would be wayyyy too crazy. In any case, I might still do a courier outfit. This is some weird mix of pseudo steampunk (Last Exile?) and other stuff. Jet packs! I guess I'm pretty stuck on Rocketeer?

These are some basic concept sketches for other morning wear outfits that go with the courier outfit. It made sense when I did it...

MIX-Accordion Handout

So, sadly my accordion accordion will not be around in time for MIX, however, there's this nice little printout. I had a lot of (caffeine induced) fun with this, I think reading all those origami instructions as a child must have helped somehow. These will be printed for the Minneapolis Indie Xpo this weekend and handed out during the demo Hedwig and I are doing on book binding. Please stop by if you can!

The clickable version is large enough to save and print at your leisure. :)

Ume Guest Comic Request

For those of you who expressed interest in doing a guest comic for Ume, thank you!

Ume has been really good for me as it's simple and fun, I hope you guys can have fun with it too! I know everyone is super busy. So I'll be posting about it here and there. Remember you can ALWAYS send me art and I'll be more than happy to post it up on the blog. <3

Your art will be featured in the print version of Ume that is coming out this winter, please let me know if you do NOT want your art to go to print version. It will be put only on the blog with a handy watermark. (You can also your own watermark.)

For sending purposes you have several options:
* Upload your image somewhere like a file
sharing site and note me the link on facebook.
* Do the above but attach it (.jpg or .png please)
to an e-mail and send it to
* Upload it to deviantART and send it via note
(Please remember to leave the download feature on!)

I will resize larger images for health purposes.

Please send your images/links/etc with the name you would like to be known as and a website/blog/dA if you have one so I can link to you!

(Your name (optional: website/email) will also go in the print version.)

Here's the list of UME format notes from the last note:

* 1 panel
* nothing sexual, violent, etc...Ume is G-rated.
* Colors are optional but encouraged
* OCs are good.
* Detailed or as simple as you like.
* Any medium.

Food Logic

This is about Ume. All the human characters of Ume have Japanese names, specifically they are all Japanese food word names.

A brief reasoning:

Ume: "Japanese Apricot", an Asian plum. Really Ume's name comes from the variety of things that are created from the ume fruit. Most things lean towards being sweet, but also can be sour, salty or tangy. This mostly reflects in Ume's personality, which will be seen in the upcoming Ume comics. Generally liked, a bit odd.

Tamago: (Tamagoyaki) "Grilled egg", Japanese omelette. Tamago was made to be the slightly more reasonable counterpart to Ume. She is fairly simple, though has many layers, can be sweet or savory. Well liked, easy going.

Senbei: Japanese rice cracker. Senbei hasn't come into the Ume comic yet, but he's currently the only male character. Sometimes sweet, more often savory with a little saltiness. He's sociable, small and a bit snappy. Well liked, casual.

(It's very bizarre to talk about these foods and then apply them to characters, actually it's a little creepy. Ergh. It made sense at the time.)

Opposed to the human characters of Ume, there are the animals.
Pop: Ume's cat
Skid: Pop's cat friend, scruffy
Fizz: The small turtle

I'm not sure why all the animals have short little names like that. Their names relate too but less logically than the weirdo food names...

Hope you enjoyed the brief dip into crazytown. :D

It's a trap.

Upcoming character, Senbei and Ume fly through the sky on a whale shark!

Updating: Hunter(s)

Some Jamie and Donovan stuff. Gun fights that make no sense. That sort of thing. Random Hunter from Left 4 Dead, really enjoying the red pencil and HB. Mmm HB. So yeah badassery and sappy things mixed with some weird. Guess I'm off the space elves for a while...

Remixed Donovan. A few changes have been made. This is a little wonky, but I enjoyed drawing it. Filtered up in photoshop because it was in red pencil on moleskine which burns the eyes. Having a good time going back to pure pencil art. This is pleasing to the Amaya.

The real life Jamie and Donovan. Sort of. At least the real life Donovan.

For my little love.

Bad webcam shot go! Awww yeah~

Doodle I did when I was over at Cory's house for that week.
I'm failing at comments everywhere. I think I'm sick of the internet. I just go through my inboxes and delete things and not care. Ergh. That's bad of me.

Tama flats

Did an inked sketch of Tama at the Minneapolis Anime Convention this weekend, scanned and dropped some flats in once I was back home.
