(Designs for the Ochaya Tea Room, CONvergence 2012.)
Basic flat layouts of where the room objects would be going. Wasn't going specifically for the correct size of everything, some things are up in the air, so I figured I'd play it safe and could downsize which would be faster than scaling up.
Added basic shapes in and blocked shapes. The original screen, go table and long table can be seen on the top, I did those after the basic layout was done. Wasn't really planning on putting them in. Sometime later I added said pieces, and got some plants from the online warehouse. Also those lanterns, the red is a little atrocious. But the example is needed.
This is what I have done so far. Added in more textures and items to fill out the room. The smaller screens were redone. We need to get reno information before I can work on the layout anymore though.

Jamie and Donovan and wolf guy
Jamie and Donovan for Valentine's Day, which I can post here because it's safe. For now. Also, you know. Most places on the internet. This was my last piece of this kind for a while maybe. I'm now out of watercolor paper this size. It's a nice ending to it though. Arms are for chumps.
I'm really atrocious at drawing animals. The heads get away from me. Anyways, decided on this wolf-type thing in a coat. I'm not sure why.Things I don't care about: if you're a furry. If you're a creepy furry, you're probably just a creep. If you're a jerk, you are just a jerk. It's not because you're a furry. I dislike when people think that "furry" automatically equals "bad". Ugh. Also, then there's the fact that "furry" means "bad" and "anthro" is "kind of okay as long as ______".
Okay, this is going to get soapbox-y soon, I'm going to stop. There might be more of wolf-trenchcoat-man eventually. I like his fancy hair.

Title goes here

I keep wondering if people think the majority of these are men or women. I don't actually know. Eh.
Found some old work at the parents house. Got rid of almost everything, actually did find some decent older character designs, also found that I go through periodic happy marker fun tiems. So I guess this is just the most recent one. Woo.

Amaya's Adventures in Printland
So people have been keen on getting prints of my bird drawings.
Alas. It has been fairly troublesome. I own a nice little Epson printer, it's...sort of not for what I do, but it works. The last time I used it was for senior project and it was a dream compared to the ones at school because it was less picky about deckled edges.
But apparently that leads to...other issues...

First

Glossy photo paper is a no-no.
Colors are

Birthday doodle
This is an early birthday doodle for my bro Melissa. I sort of wish I had pulled the hair up on this one too. But it has more swirly things! Black and red is still so weird to me. I did get some new colors yesterday so going to try and use them there "warm tones". Gah. There's that weird little thing between her sleeve bits. Need to adjust that. Yep.
At the CAD from 1-9:30 now. TA stuff and then class. Printmaking thingsss~ Looking forward to doing the 150 Sea Creatures print. Doing two group things too. Trying to decide on another one or two things to try and do. Shiny shiny.

Time Bird, coast to coast
(Anything with two words, the first one was "space bird", which actually makes sense with "coast to coast". This doesn't. At all.) Moving on... WELCOME TO MY PHOTOSHOP DISASTER ZONE.
I'm not sure what I was trying to do here, except have fun doing things that mess with my drawings. It happens more than is probably healthy.
This horrifying blue brought to you by layers, and the letters P and S. Also, the color teal.
This version is one of my favorites, I didn't keep any of them, just screenshot them and went on my way. If I was a braver and better person I'd invest in a lot of highlighters and just draw like this.
A less eye-burn-y version! I like the moon-thing-spot-yellow-thing being so dark. The feathers on this one look pretty different up close. So little teal!

Here's the actual one, in all it's higher definition glory. Time Bird isn't actually Time Bird, even though it matches Space Bird (also I'm iffy about assigning actual genders. I think it's maybe a guy.) BUT I made this time wizard-person-thing when I was 13 and figured I'd run with...well nothing, except the wizard guy had threads too. But he also had planets. No it's not The Doctor. Though maybe that'll be next. TARDIS bird?

Bird again
Well this is what it's supposed to look like. I had some trouble with this and it involved a lot of fixes but I like the shape, the thicker line was something that was decided later and I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with it. I think it got away from the bird feeling. Or maybe it's a...chubby bird. One of those little fatty ones that lives on the ground. (Bird knowledge=barely any. Sea life knowledge=way too much)
Something horrifying happened when I hit the scan button while the cover
was open. Sharing is caring!
Deciding on a Valentine's Day Ume comic. I think next year I'm going to do really minor holidays. Also I should find out when Bagel Day is over at the Perp. Because that's what's important in life. Bagel Day from high school.
I really want to take a pattern class, I don't think it's something that I'd be be very good at learning myself, too specific.

Promo Stuff
Ume cards are in! Excited! The crop is a little tight on the top, but I'll fix it on another run.
Updated Paper Tapir cards finally, with the normal website. The blogspot still redirects and everything. So both work? Yes. Also I got a stamp! It's really nice. Very pleased.
(My UPS lady is the best.)

Things and stuff for the new year
Currently in the market for a paper cutter. It's harder than it looks, especially because I don't want to spend $300.
Going to be TAing for the Materials and Techniques class this semester at MCAD.
Trying to start doing some mixed media illustration again. Probably should get a hold of some illustration board. Also need to get a larger size of vellum. New print of 150 sea creatures is being dealt with. Eep! Worried about how it's going to print, especially because last time the exposure unit was on the fritz.

New Year Process
Saturday, October 29, 2011
Doing paper inventory soon, I've accumulated a lot of extra stuff and scrap that I can't personally use, but those who do paper craft of different sorts might be able to. Already lined up to send some out. It's mostly chiyogami, and other Japanese papers, I should get a few more large sheets of some different stuff soon. Gah.
MIX events start Friday!

CONvergence
Tiny curb tree outside the Sheraton. I'll do a proper update later, was able to do a few crafty things this CONvergence, including some decoupage at Connie's Quantum Sandbox. It's over on PaperTapir if you want to see my temporary mediocre webcam shots of it.

Long time no post
Doodled this on the train from Seoul to Pusan last week. Currently sitting in the hotel overlooking the sea and bored enough to try and make a post on these blogs without a scanner and using the webcam. Probably not the best idea, in retrospect. Also. Edits in Preview! Those are always good! Will be moving pretty soon after I get back tomorrow, in the next week or so. There's that, and other things, and projects, and then suddenly conventions. My header makes me think of "spongebob no pants", my deepest apologies for those of you who don't know me.
Also. To make it really official, been watching My Little Pony. Best. Ever. Just to make that clear. On the internet and all.

That thing. You know the one.
Graduation. Today. Later.
There is going to be a continued lull, as I travel the world (read: not really) from the 14th to the 25/6th, then moving, then I might be able to start drawing again. Though I really haven't since senior project, except for figure class things. Whoops.
Then job. More classes somewhere. Spending my time at MCBA. Spending the rest of my time deciding when is appropriate to use Continuing Studies to go back and use the print shop... Yep. Possibly cats...

Educating Tapirs

I don't even know where this came from. I guess I feel people should be educated about tapirs. Also, maybe I'm biased, but I think these guys are very sweet. They have a Malayan Tapir at the Minnesota Zoo, she's been there a long time and is sort of smelly and lumpy, but I like her.
She's part of the Species Survival Plan. Oh they also say this about the babies:
"For the first 6-8 months of their life, newborn tapirs resemble 20 lb. watermelons with legs. They are dark brown to black with alternating bands of yellowish-white stripes and spots."
That's adorable.
Anyways educate yourself. Maybe I'll do more long format info bits on weird animals I like. For no reason.
