"Angel of Death" concept. I wanted to go with something a little more "cute" to go with my "Death" concept. The AoD and Death form a set. Ain't that cute?


Like I was saying. The "Death" concept is pretty simple. But yeah. Hurr.


This is just a doodle of the "Death" concept that I did in class today, the long scarf like thing is actually what makes up the base of the cowl. He's got both sickles here, usually the AoD has the one with the key.

Wow, two posts in the same 24-hours, you guys are lucky. I think.

Blehhhh. I don't even?

Concept for Max's (Four Steampunk Horsemen of the Apocalypse) Death costume. *Not shown, copious amounts of notes, sketches and other crap. This is the "nice" looking version. :/ I feel like I'm cheating people out of knowledge if I don't mention these things...

Originally Tom and I were going to do a courier service for a convention. In theory this would be fun, but also in theory...and in reality it would be wayyyy too crazy. In any case, I might still do a courier outfit. This is some weird mix of pseudo steampunk (Last Exile?) and other stuff. Jet packs! I guess I'm pretty stuck on Rocketeer?

These are some basic concept sketches for other morning wear outfits that go with the courier outfit. It made sense when I did it...

Ocha-ya CONvergence Room 2009

I stole some pictures from my friends on the fbook.

I figured that I should show what I've been up to on the convention line recently and this is it.
My friend Cameron came up with the idea to do a tea/ramen/rice room at CONvergence this year, we're probably going to be at Anime Detour and next CONvergence. This test run proved very successful and was for sure worth the extraordinary amount of money we dropped on it.



The final uniform for the boys (traps), we had green, white, red and brown that coincided with the tea they were serving. Green, white, fruit (grapefruit that is), and oolong.


This was the original design for the uniforms for the traps. Cameron designed them and after a few versions this is what we decided on. The finals did not have the characters on them because it was decided that it would be sort of pointless.

The tops, obi, neck piece, cup holder, and corset-type-thing were made by hand, the skirts, thigh highs and shoes were purchased or borrowed from the girls.

Not shown are the lanterns on thin bamboo stakes that were carried around by the male (girl traps) and the female outfit, which consited of a button down in matching color, blazer, fedora, and pants.




This was the main side of the room, the opposite side (by the tv cabinet) had a large three-panel screen made by Cameron and a few of our friends.
The outside balcony area had a large low table with pillows going around the edge, we had lanterns across the front part of the balcony as well. The low lighting worked really well and provided a nice, calm atmosphere for the convention go-ers. People even brought board games!

Post: Anime Detour

Anime Detour is over! I did pretty well considering, but now I have to make a new set of hats, I dunno it's fun for me so I don't mind all that much.

Next up is Anime Central with Messa!

I didn't get much done other than extra school work (which, of course, is not documented) but here are some slightly more normal sketches. You know, those things I do for fun? Yeah~ Hunters, a guy who looks like Riku who isn't Riku and Link from Zelda. I'm not sure what spurred that last one, I almost never draw fanart anymore.
Also here's a picture of the Alucard (Hellsing) costume I worked on for a friend. There are some parts on it that still sort of bother me, but we'll go with it for now. I was pretty pleased over all.


I've been getting a lot more on Tales done recently, I'm starting to ink the finished pages and pencil the last three. I've decided to ink it in black then change the color digitally and print on watercolor paper, I think it will be easier in terms of materials and the inking will be more uniform. In other news I've switched back to comics for my major, I guess this is it though, no more switching after this~
